First Period

Third Practice

The last class that I had with Advanced Level was on Thursday 21th.

This time students were bored and stressed because they had a grammar quiz before the advanced class, and I also had to start the class ten or fifteen minutes later because they were taking their breakfast. So I had to wait for them.

For most of us is kind of difficult to teach grammar. As we know grammar is so complex and we are always thinking about the questions that students would have. This time I had the opportunity to teach ¨FRONTING¨ I was nervous but anyways I had to do my best. I began with a warm up activity as I always do. I asked the students to make to groups, so then I asked for a representative for each group. The representatives were in front. I gave them some pieces of paper with important information regarding to a specific country, so their group had to guess which country was. In this opportunity time was too short that I couldn't finish with the activities that I had, I could not develop the last practice that I had.

My teaching experience has been good because now I know which are the things that I need to improve and I´m sure that I will learn more in the coming practice.

Teaching practice I

Well, in my second time teaching I was not as nervous as the first time. But I was kind of afraid because I had to develop some activities that required too much time. I started the class with an activity in which students had to guess a word related to the category food. I asked some students to go to the front and described the word that they had in a piece of paper which I provided. The group continued the same they always are participating and I really like their attitude they are not judging you well, at least not in front of you. This time I felt more confident than the first time. The activities that I develop at the beginning helped me to catch the student’s attention, they were kind of tired and stressed before the class because they were in grammar class in the previous hour. 

I started the class at nine but that day I had to wait for them like 10 minutes because the classroom is in the fourth floor and most of them were taking their breakfast. But even though I was afraid because of the time I could develop all the activities that I planned. The experience was nice!!!

Teaching Practice I

In my case I am in advanced level. The experience was very nice even though at the beginning I was nervous. But once the group started to participate in the activities I felt better. To start the class I read a quote that help me to catch their attention, so they started to give opinions related to it. This group is studying the ¨adjective order¨ I started the class with a warm up, I provided some pictures of famous people and students made some sentences using the adjective order. Then they made a reading activity, for this activity I was afraid because in the text that students read were many words that I did not know so I had to look for the meanings of each word because I knew that they would ask for their meaning. So I explained them the meaning of those words. The activity was done and students finished all the activities that I prepared for them. The day of my practice I was lucky because the group received the class in a classroom that had enough space to do the activities. So I change the seating arrangement and they were seating in a semi circle. This group is always participating, they barely speak Spanish. But of course there are two or three of them that speak Spanish in the class. So I can say that I really enjoyed that day, but I know that I have to improve some things.
